Marianne Heger MD

Obituary

Marianne Heger, MD, PhD, passed away on 24.08.2005, aged 49. She was Director of the Science and Research Division of Deutsche Homöopathie-Union in Karlsruhe, Germany. She studied medicine and chemistry at Heidelberg University and then worked in the Internal Medicine Department of Bruchsal Teaching Hospital of Heidelberg University. After studying homeopathy and naturopathy she gained practical experience at the Aesculap Clinic for Holistic Practice in Bad Rappenau. Dr. Heger was involved for 6 years in international arteriosclerosis and cardiovascular research at Bristol-Myers Squibb and at Knoll AG, and has had her own part-time private practice since 1990. In October 1991 she joined DHU as the Head of Clinical Research and in 1993 became the Head of the Science and Research Division. She was a member from 1996 to 2003 of the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Convention of the United States (HPCUS, www.HPUS.com), an advisory board to the FDA on homeopathy, and the Chair of the international editorial board of the journal “Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine”. Since 1997 she has also been responsible for the HomInt Research Centre.
